What Should You Actually Be Doing the Last Month Before Your Wedding? (Straight from a wedding planner).
The final month before your wedding is when all the pieces finally come together — timelines are finalized, vendors are confirmed, final design and decor decisions are made, and reality sets in: this is really happening.
Here’s what really needs to happen in the final month of planning to ensure that all of these details — and everything you’ve been working so hard on — perfectly falls into place.
Vendor & Logistics Finalization
You’ve booked them — now it’s time to make sure they’re all on the same page.
Update your rental company with final headcounts for chairs, china, stemware, flatware, etc.
Do your 30-day walk-through with your venue. Confirm your floor plans for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. If the venue is placing rentals, make sure they have everything they need.
Update your caterer and bar team with your final guest count. Fewer guests = savings.
Finalize your full timeline and layout — then send it to every single vendor.
Confirm your photography schedule, including special shot requests and first look locations.
Create your morning-of hair & makeup schedule so your glam team and bridal party know where to be and when.
Answer any final vendor questionnaires — think DJ, videographer, transportation, etc.
Wrap up any final calls with your officiant, planner, photographer, DJ, or venue. Everyone should know the game plan by now.
Confirm delivery and pickup times for all vendors — rentals, florals, cake, signage, and anything else you’re providing.
Confirm vendor meals and note any dietary restrictions. Don’t forget your planner and photo/video team!
Wedding Party & Family Coordination
Get your VIPs ready for game day.
Send your wedding weekend itinerary to the bridal party and immediate family so they know where to be and when.
Assign a point person (if you don’t have a planner) to handle any day-of questions or issues.
Confirm transportation details for yourself, your bridal party, and immediate family — especially if you have multiple locations or a tight timeline.
The Finishing Touches
These details may seem small, but they make a big impact on how smooth the day feels.
Assemble your day-of emergency kit — think fashion tape, mints, safety pins, bobby pins, Advil, bandaids, blotting papers, etc.
Finish your seating chart and place cards, and double-check all names and spellings.
Write vendor thank-you cards and prep labeled envelopes for gratuities.
Gather your detail flat lay items for your photographer: invitations, vow books, rings, perfume, heirlooms, etc.
Break in your wedding shoes so you’re not hobbling down the aisle.
Bring your marriage license and assign someone to make sure it gets signed and returned.
Make a packing list for your wedding day (and honeymoon if you’re leaving soon after!).
A Little Self-Care
Because the best bridal glow comes from feeling good — not just good lighting.
Schedule your final beauty appointments — nails, brows, wax, facial, spray tan, etc.
Drink water like it’s your part-time job.
Get rest and protect your peace. You’re almost there.
You’ve Got This.
Planning a wedding is no small feat — but if you knock out this list, you’ll walk into your day calm, confident, and ready to celebrate.
